are you making this mistake?

the #1 reason your account isn't growing

Hey — Eric here.

If you’re new — each week I send a breakdown, a strategy, or a tip to help you grow your audience and business using short form content.

This week note is about the #1 mistake I see both people and brands make.

Let’s talk about 👇

Most people overcomplicate short-form content.

They stress over hooks, formats, & what style is “working right now.”

But if you’re missing this foundational piece… nothing you do will drive meaningful growth.

So what do you need?

You need a compelling narrative.

This can either be a clear point of view, for example:

Shelby Sapp: “Hot girls do sales”

Default Positive: “Sports media has a problem”

KWE The Artist: “Music Streaming Services Are Dying”

OR

A clear journey you’re taking people on, for example:

Stereo Hoare: “Selling a billion bricks”

Yuvi Rayz: “I’m going to win an Oscar by 2030”

Bond Almand: “Attempting to be the fastest person to cycle across America”

Without a compelling narrative, you blend into a sea of sameness.

And if you want to grow — you need to STAND OUT.

So, if you’ve been posting consistently and not growing….

Take a step back and get clear on your narrative before you post another piece of content.

And if you want my input, reply to this email with what you do/what account you’re trying to grow and I’ll respond to the first five people.

Rooting for ya,

—Dodds
