2 Origin Stories That Drove 5M+ Views
how to turn your story into a movement.
The best creators and brands are playing a different game.
They obsess over two things:
1) How to make someone stop scrolling
2) Communicating a clear POV to get people to join a movement.
They don’t just show what they’re building.
They make you feel the why, believe in the how, and want to follow the story.
Here are two of the best origin story videos I came across this week.
Broken down line-by-line, with takeaways you can use to craft your own.
🏆 1. “I’m Going to Win an Oscar” — @yuvirayz
Script Breakdown + Why It Works
“On March 1, 2030 — I’m going to win an Oscar.”
→ Bold. Time-stamped. Slightly delusional. You have to keep watching.
“Hi, I’m Yuvi. And you might think I sound delusional.”
→ He names your reaction and disarms it. Honesty = trust.
“But people thought I was delusional when I graduated with a software engineering degree and said I’d make it in film.”
→ Establishes precedent. Doubters were wrong before. Quiet credibility.
“Since then, I’ve gained 2M+ followers, been to major film festivals, and worked with brands I love.”
→ Proof of progress. Social proof. Builds belief fast.
“If I could do all that in 2 years… why couldn’t I win an Oscar in 5?”
→ Smart reframe. Makes the crazy goal feel achievable.
“Let me show you. Welcome to a segment I call The History of Me.”
→ Now it’s a series. You’re not just watching a video — you’re on a journey.
“I’ve been acting since I was a kid… shorts, TV, auditions, classes.”
→ Establishes craft credibility. He’s been doing the work.
“Now let’s talk about the roadmap that’s going to get me that Oscar.”
→ Transitions to future. Clear direction = you want to follow along.
“This is just draft one. It’ll evolve. But here’s where I’m starting…”
→ Humility. Makes the vision feel real, not polished.
Step 1: Book a feature film
Step 2: Book a recurring role in a series
Step 3: Create my own work
→ Specific. Believable. Stakes feel personal.
“We’ve seen musicians document their come-up… but never an actor. So I thought — why not be the first?”
→ Category creation. Flips the entire concept into a movement.
“Hit follow if you want to come along for the ride.”
→ Soft CTA. You're rooting for him now.
🧠 What You Can Learn from Yuvi
Start with audacity. If you can prove it by the end, you win.
Establish proof early. People need reasons to trust your journey.
Add structure to your story. A series format makes it binge-able.
Position it as a movement. “Musicians have done it, but never an actor”
🏡 2. “I’m Building An Airbnb” — @soldby.obi
Script Breakdown + Why It Works
[Zoomed-in visual hook]
→ Curiosity: “What is bro doing?” draws people in before he says a word.
“I’m scouting for the perfect piece of land to build my first Airbnb.”
→ Drops us straight into the action. No fluff. We’re in.
“Just 3 months ago, I flipped my first house — designed entirely through Instagram polls.”
→ Builds novelty and credibility. He’s doing something different.
“It showed me something important: you can actually make money in real estate while having fun.”
→ Insight. Emotion. Aspirational. Real estate doesn’t have to be boring.
“But after I sold the house, there was one thing I couldn’t shake…”
→ Introduces tension. Pulls you deeper.
“The people who helped design it never got to step inside and experience it.”
→ Taps into emotion. This is about the community.
“So I thought… what if I used the entire profit to build something we could all share?”
→ More emotion. From solo success → shared experience.
“So, yeah. Here I am.”
→ Conversational. Like a friend telling you a story.
“Looking for the perfect piece of land to build the first Airbnb designed entirely through Instagram polls.”
→ Repeats the vision + how he’s different.
“But this isn’t going to be just any Airbnb. There are already thousands of Airbnbs on the market.”
→ Stakes rise.
“So for this to be profitable — and not lose everything we made — it has to be one of the best experiences ever.”
→ Risk. Emotion. High-stakes.
“If you’ve ever wanted to design an Airbnb from the ground up… you’re early.”
→ Inclusive CTA. Makes the audience feel like insiders.
🧠 What You Can Learn from Obi
Start with momentum. Drop the audience straight into it. Explain later.
Turn the audience into co-owners. Get the audience invested.
Show the stakes. He’s reinvesting everything aka it matters.
Reintroduce the vision multiple times. Repetition cements memory.
Make your journey feel like a movement. “You’re early. We start tomorrow.”
📚 How to Script Your Own Origin Story
Follow this outline:
Start with a spark. (Delusion, moment, risk, leap.)
Give context. (Backstory, struggle, tension.)
Reveal your roadmap. (3 steps, 1 goal.)
Raise the stakes. (Why it matters. What’s on the line.)
Create a movement. (Why should someone care? What’s the larger narrative?)
Try it out yourself. Send me a draft if you want feedback. I’ll reply to the first three.

Rooting for ya,
